Weeds look shocked at first, then visibly wilt and brown over 24 to 48 hours. Leave them. They break down on their own, or brush away in a few days.

The rhythm

Regular light visits through the season catch new growth while it's small and weakest. That's exactly when heat works best, and why results keep getting better.

A straight answer on regrowth: heat kills what's above ground. Tough perennials like dandelions can push back from the root, so one visit isn't a miracle cure. For a driveway that stays clean, most homes choose a seasonal plan of 3 or 4 visits. That's the honest physics of it, and it's the same reason repeat spraying exists, just without the chemicals.

Common questions

Fair questions, straight answers

Will the flame damage my paving or driveway?+
No. Stone, concrete, brick and block paving are all made with far more heat than a one-second pass ever delivers, and the flame is angled at the weed, not held on the surface. I keep the burner well away from anything that isn't stone: fences, bins, artificial grass, parked cars and planting all stay outside the working line.
Does it work on moss too?+
Yes, and it's very satisfying. The heat dries moss out and kills it in place. It browns over the following days and then brushes away easily, which makes this a great treatment for shaded patios, north-facing paths and mossy kerb lines.
Does it kill the roots?+
The heat kills everything above ground. Tough perennials like dandelions can push back from the root, which is why one visit isn't a miracle cure. Each regrowth costs the root stored energy though, so regular visits progressively exhaust it. That's why most homes choose a seasonal plan of 3 or 4 visits, and why results keep improving through the season.
How soon can children and pets use the area?+
As soon as the surface has cooled, which takes minutes. There's nothing to dry, no residue and no keep-off period, because nothing has been applied to the surface at all.
Is it really chemical-free? What about the gas?+
Nothing is applied to your property, full stop. The burner runs on propane, which burns cleanly to carbon dioxide and water vapour, so there's no residue on the surface and nothing to wash into soil or drains. And since I arrive by cargo bike rather than a van, the round trip itself adds nothing either.
Aren't salt, vinegar or washing-up liquid a natural fix?+
They sound gentle, but they leave more behind than they let on. Salt never breaks down: it builds up in the joints and soil, kills the soil life underneath indiscriminately, spreads further with every rainfall, and can corrode paving and irritate pets' paws long after the weed is gone. Vinegar strong enough to kill a weed is an acid, and acid etches concrete, lime mortar and natural stone while still only burning the leaves. Washing-up liquid rinses surfactants into your soil and drains, which is bad news for insects, ponds and waterways. Heat does the same job and leaves nothing behind at all.
Does it work in Irish weather?+
Yes. The treatment ruptures plant cells with heat, so weeds don't need to be dry for it to work, and damp conditions are actually the safest for flame work. Only heavy rain on the day means rescheduling, and I'll always let you know in advance.
Do I need to be home for the visit?+
Only for the first visit, so we can agree the quote and walk the area together. After that, if your drive is accessible, I can treat it while you're out and send you a message when it's done.
